Wow. I wish I had been able to take pictures of the food from this place, but once it hit my mouth-I couldn’t stop. A good friend of mine had mentioned that Vita Bella was his favorite place in Chicagoland to pick up an Italian Beef sandwich. I have had a few of these sandwiches in the past, so I was ready to see what the hype was about on this one. We agreed to try it out for lunch the next day-and that was one of my best decisions to date.
Warren set off to pick up our order, and came back with a bag full of delicious. Vita Bella uses a sweet pepper that tastes like it has been simmer with powdered sugar. The beef was perfectly tender, and amazingly juicy. This meal has literally transformed my expectations for Italian Beef sandwiches.
And, their thin crust cheese pizza was VERY tasty as well!

This shop has one of the largest selections that I have ever seen. The humidor is simply massive. They have a wide selection of budget sticks, flavored cigars, premium smokes, and everything in between. Since I’m currently on a lancero kick, I was pleased to find a variety that I had never run across before. If you need any accessories, I’m sure you can find them here. They had all of the usual suspects, all the way up to lighters that cost over $2,000. The prices all seemed to be quite reasonable (although IL tobacco tax is not a pretty thing), and the people were very friendly. The managers of the shop all treated me like a long time customer, even though it was my first visit there. Lockers are available for rent, and it appears there is a full coffee bar on site!

Very nice park. this is one of the closest parks to Chicago, but realize that you are an hour from downtown-with no traffic. You are looking at 1.5-2 hours to get down there during busy hours. The park has a very nice dog walk that is a mini-maze mowed into a field of knee high grass. Note-very mosquito heavy! The staff is very friendly and the sites are spacious.
