ut it sure doesn’t bother me. After 14 hours in the truck, I won’t go in for anything! We left Atlanta, GA at 6AM today, and there was a big bustle to try to make it back to KC tonight. Only problem, was that a snow storm was heading right at us. We made it to Columbia, MO before we started to see any of it, and then by Boonville, MO Karen was insisting that we stop. There is an RV park just off the side of the highway, so we parked the rig in there and I started to make like the abominable snow man.

Famous for it’s country western music, this city manages to captivate an audience far larger then you would expect. It certainly drew us in. We stayed just north of town at the Nashville Country RV park, and by the end of our 2 week stay, we were indeed turning country. The Gray Line Sight Seeing group offers daily tours of the city, and they do pickups at many local hotels and the Nashville Country Park. However, I can’t suggest the tour line, unless you want to hear a pitch on why you should start selling cold pressed chocolates, get throw around the bus by a reckless driver, listen to racist jokes at a mandatory stop, and get pressured into buying Grand Ole Opry tickets. However, we did learn a lot about the town that day. Both of us were impressed by the Country Music Hall of Fame, and enjoyed walking down Broadway to see several famous honky tonks. With our own free time, we went back to try the famous Jacks BBQ. True to our heart, they don’t serve you a plate of food dripping in sauce. They offer 3 sauce choices (Tennessee, Texas, and Kansas City style) that you are welcome to apply as much, or as little, as you chose. Known for their brisket, we made sure to get an order of that along with the pulled pork. Both had a beautiful smoke ring, and neither were dry. The sides were very southern, and very delicious. This place is a must visit in Nashville.

We only spent a short time in the massive Opry Mills Mall, but that was just because it doesn’t take long to spend your money in a place like that. From a Rainforest Cafe to a Bass Pro shop, with everything in between-you will be able to find a place to shop. Luckily we only allowed a few short hours there, before we walked next door to the Grand Ole Opry. I would like to say that this is a can’t miss show that everyone has to attend. Sadly, I can only say that there IS a bar, but they stop serving before the thing is half over. It is an experience…but not one that I feel stronger for having done.

Next time we go back, we plan to spend more time enjoying the public parks near the downtown areas. There is a wealth of history in that area, and the city does an amazing job of displaying it all. My boots are ready, and I will head back soon.
